Lake Mburo is the second smallest national park in Uganda. There are leopards in this park, but no lions, and no elephants, which makes possible one of the most delightful experiences for visitors: a walking safari! Here you will find large families of giraffes and herds of zebras which, while wary, are comfortable with your presence. Mix in eland, buffalo, warthogs, and birds of all sorts, including Uganda’s national symbol, the grey-crowned crane. There are cattle ranches adjacent to the park, so you might find yourself sharing the road on occasion with the ancient breed of cattle known as Ankole-Watusi, as thrilling a sight as any wildlife!
